Yes, international students can enquire about training as a colonic hydrotherapist with me in the UK.
The theory element can be completed online, followed by seven days of supervised practical training at The Treatment Rooms in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
I also welcome enquiries from qualified colonic therapists overseas who are interested in continuing professional development through The Treatment Rooms Learning Hub.
I’m Tracy Johnson, an Advanced RICTAT Colonic Hydrotherapy Practitioner, RICTAT Trainer and Board Member. I work with clients in my own clinic alongside training, mentoring and supporting practitioners.
Can international students undertake colonic hydrotherapy training in the UK?
Yes. I welcome enquiries from prospective students living outside the UK, including those based in Ireland, Cyprus and elsewhere in Europe.
I have previously trained international students, so I understand that travelling to the UK requires additional planning. Before committing to the course, we would discuss your existing qualifications, training requirements, proposed dates and the practicalities of travelling to Lancashire.
Training takes place through a RICTAT-recognised pathway and combines online study with supervised, hands-on clinical experience.
However, professional requirements can differ between countries. Before enrolling, international students should investigate the regulations, insurance requirements and professional recognition that apply wherever they intend to practise.
I will support the best I can, but I would never want someone to assume that a UK qualification automatically provides the same professional status in every country.
How is the theory training completed?
The theory stage includes four live online Zoom sessions alongside guided home study and access to the learning portal.
This gives international students the opportunity to begin learning from home before travelling to the UK.
Theory topics include:
- Anatomy and physiology relating to colonic hydrotherapy
- Client consultation and health questionnaires
- Contraindications, red flags and referrals
- Medications and treatment suitability
- Infection prevention and hygiene
- Professional ethics and responsibilities
- Treatment preparation and aftercare
- Clinic equipment and professional practice
The theory stage provides the foundation needed before beginning practical clinical training.
Where does the practical training take place?
Practical training currently takes place at The Treatment Rooms in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
This is my established, premises-based clinic and training environment. It is not a temporary classroom or home treatment room.
Students work in a professional clinical setting where they can become familiar with consultations, equipment preparation, treatment procedures, hygiene standards, client communication and the realities of working with different people.
The practical element takes place over seven days and includes a minimum of 15 supervised treatments with real clients.
For me, this part of the course is incredibly important. Colonic hydrotherapy cannot be learned properly from a manual or video alone. Confidence develops through observation, supervised practice, constructive feedback and learning how to respond when every client and treatment is slightly different.
Do I need to be a nurse or healthcare professional?
No. You do not need to be a nurse to enquire about colonic hydrotherapy training.
My students have come from nursing, healthcare, massage, beauty, complementary therapy, fitness and entirely different professional backgrounds.
Students are required to hold a recognised Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualification, or an accepted equivalent, before progressing into practical training. If you do not already hold this qualification, we can discuss an appropriate route.
What matters is that you are prepared to learn, work professionally and understand the responsibility involved in supporting clients safely.
What does RICTAT recognition mean for an international student?
RICTAT is a professional association supporting standards in colonic hydrotherapy training and practice.
The training pathway includes theory, supervised practical work, assessment, case studies, professional membership and ongoing mentorship.
For a UK-based practitioner, this provides a recognised professional pathway into practice. If you plan to work elsewhere, you must also check the local requirements within your own country.
These may include:
- Insurance requirements
- Local business or clinic regulations
- Professional registration
- Infection-control standards
- Equipment requirements
- Restrictions relating to complementary healthcare services
I am happy to explain exactly what my training includes so that you can make enquiries with the appropriate organisations in your country before making a financial commitment.
What should I consider before travelling to the UK?
International students need to allow enough time for the practical training and any necessary travel arrangements.
Before confirming dates, think about:
- Flights or other transport
- Accommodation near Skelmersdale
- Travel between your accommodation and The Treatment Rooms
- Visa or entry requirements, where applicable
- Completing the online theory beforehand
- Meeting the Anatomy and Physiology requirement
- Your intended professional and insurance arrangements after qualifying
Talk to me, that’s what I’m here for. I would rather have an honest conversation about what is involved before you book than have you encounter unexpected difficulties later.
Do you accept enquiries from Cyprus and Europe?
Yes. I welcome enquiries from prospective students and qualified practitioners based in Cyprus and across Europe.
At present, foundation practical training is delivered at The Treatment Rooms in Lancashire. Depending on demand, suitable facilities and professional requirements, I may also explore future opportunities to deliver practical training or practitioner CPD internationally.
This is at the expression-of-interest stage, so no overseas locations or dates are currently confirmed.
If you live in Cyprus or elsewhere in Europe and would like to register your interest, please contact me with your location, current qualifications and the type of training you are considering.
Understanding where genuine interest exists will help me explore what may be possible in the future.
Can qualified therapists access the Learning Hub internationally?
Yes. The Treatment Rooms Learning Hub provides self-study education for colonic hydrotherapists and practitioners who want to develop their clinical understanding.
The Hub includes:
- Body Systems courses explored through a colonic therapist’s lens
- Continuing Professional Development courses
- Advanced and Micro Teach subjects
- Clinical Confidence reference guides
- Practitioner-focused education and assessment
Courses are completed online, making them accessible to practitioners in the UK and internationally.
Availability, CPD acceptance and professional recognition should always be checked with your own association or governing organisation.

Why train with me?
I am an active Advanced RICTAT Colonic Hydrotherapy Practitioner as well as a trainer and RICTAT Board Member.
I continue to work directly with clients at The Treatment Rooms, so my teaching is shaped by real clinical experience rather than theory alone.
Students train in small, supported groups and receive guidance throughout their practical development. My focus is on helping students understand not only what to do, but why they are doing it.
Training includes:
- Supervised experience with real clients
- Practical treatment skills
- Consultation and communication
- Contraindications and clinical decision-making
- Professional boundaries and responsibilities
- Hygiene and safe working practices
- Ongoing mentorship and practitioner support
It is not all sunshine and roses. Learning a new practical skill can feel uncomfortable at first, particularly when you are also travelling from another country. My role is to help you develop gradually, safely and with realistic expectations.
How do I enquire about international training?
Please contact me with:
- Your name and country
- Your current qualifications
- Whether you are interested in foundation training, refresher training or CPD
- Whether you could travel to the UK
- Any preferred timescale
- Whether you would be interested in future training opportunities in Cyprus or Europe
I can then explain the training pathway and help you decide whether it is suitable for you.

No. The theory stage can be completed online, but colonic hydrotherapy is a practical therapy. Supervised, hands-on clinical training is essential.
Is the training delivered in English?
Yes. The teaching, course materials, assessments and practical instruction are delivered in English. Students need to be comfortable learning and communicating with clients in English.
Can I complete the practical training in my own country?
Practical foundation training currently takes place at The Treatment Rooms in Skelmersdale. Future international teaching may be explored where there is sufficient demand and an appropriate professional clinical environment.
Is accommodation included in the course price?
Accommodation and travel are not included. International students should discuss practical dates before booking flights or accommodation.
Will the qualification allow me to practise anywhere in Europe?
Professional requirements vary between countries. Students must check the legal, insurance and professional requirements that apply within the country where they plan to work.
Can qualified international therapists purchase Learning Hub courses?
Yes. The online courses can be accessed internationally, although therapists should check whether the CPD is accepted by their own professional association.
How much does the foundation training cost?
The full training investment is £3,500. This includes online theory, practical clinical training, learning materials, assessment support and ongoing mentorship. Travel and accommodation are separate.
