WHO CAN’T HAVE A COLONIC

Important Contraindications & Medical Considerations

For your safety and wellbeing, colonic hydrotherapy may not be suitable for certain medical conditions or during periods of active illness or recovery. Please ensure you disclose your full medical history prior to treatment.

Colonic hydrotherapy is not suitable for clients with:

  • Abdominal hernia (including inguinal or umbilical hernia)
  • Active anal fissures
  • Active inflammatory bowel conditions, including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis or colitis flare-ups
  • Rectal fistula
  • Bowel obstruction
  • Bowel or rectal prolapse
  • Colon or rectal cancer
  • Current chemotherapy treatment
  • Uncontrolled diabetes or high blood pressure
  • Heart failure, atrial fibrillation (AF) or tachycardia
  • POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
  • Severe liver or kidney disease
  • Neutropenia or significantly lowered immunity
  • Pregnancy
  • Active rectal bleeding
  • Inflamed haemorrhoids (piles)
  • Intussusception
  • Prostatitis or prostate cancer
  • Recent abdominal, bowel or gastric surgery
  • Recent bowel or prostate biopsy
  • Recent abdominal or pelvic radiotherapy
  • Undiagnosed persistent diarrhoea
  • Any condition currently under medical investigation
  • Any serious illness or health concern that may make treatment unsuitable

Treatment may need to be postponed if you:

  • Are currently taking antibiotics for an infection
  • Have a urinary tract infection (UTI) or active infection
  • Feel unwell, faint, highly anxious or emotionally distressed
  • Are underweight or receiving support for an eating disorder
  • Have severe anaemia
